Sidi Moussa is a commune in the Baraki District of the Algiers Province and a suburb of the city of Algiers in northern Algeria. It is situated 15 km (9.3 mi) south of central Algiers.

Economy
[edit]Although historically an agricultural area, starting from 1971, an industrial zone of 166 hectares was established around the prefabricated factory of the army DNC-ANP. This area is dedicated to metal, mechanical, wood, and construction industries employed at its peak more than 10,000 people.
Population of Sidi Moussa
[edit]Sidi Moussa is a municipality situated over 43.27 square kilometers (5.347% of the total area). As of 2020, according to data from the Department of Statistics and Population Studies of Algeria (DPSB),[2] the population of Sidi Moussa stands at 45,153 inhabitants, with a population density of approximately 1,044 individuals per square kilometer. This data underscores the demographic landscape and density within the municipality, reflecting its significance within the region.
History
[edit]The commune was heavily struck by the Algerian Civil War: In 1993 and 1994 death squads conducted killings, in January 1997 there were further murders and in August 1997 the Rais massacre took place.[3]
