the stamp with Mann's face on it from EAST Germany, the DDR, not simply "Germany."

[edit]

the stamp with Mann's on it from (Communist)EAST Germany, the DDR, not simply "Germany," and should be identified as such.

East Germany still existed in 1971, and the stamp clearly says "DDR," Deutsche Demokratische Republik. West Germany was the "BRD," Bundesrepublik Deutschland.

Surely it meets the criteria for notability? Jatrius (talk) 13:43, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Family?

[edit]

You mention his second wife, but not his first. Were there any children? Valetude (talk) 00:13, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Work and Exile, para 5

[edit]

"While Heinrich was considered a womanizer and philanderer who preferred lower-class women, Thomas valued respectability and looked down on his brother's constant string of mistresses and prostitutes, whom Heinrich described quite openly in some of his novels and short stories, but at the same time was fascinated by young men." I understand this as meaning that while Thomas looked down at his brother's habits, Thomas himself was fascinated by young men. If that's right, I'd put "whom...stories" in brackets and then delete the comma immediately following. Per$1$tenceofv1$1on (talk) 12:39, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
