COI Edit Request

[edit]

I am submitting this set of edit requests on behalf of Lubos Pastor, who asks that the following specific edits be considered to update the article’s content and references.

Content Updates

1. Lubos Pastor’s University title has been updated as of July 1, 2023, from “Charles P. McQuaid Professor of Finance and Robert King Steel Faculty Fellow” to “Charles P. McQuaid *Distinguished Service* Professor of Finance and Robert King Steel Faculty Fellow”. Source: https://www.chicagobooth.edu/faculty/directory/p/lubos-pastor

2. The sentence “His most cited paper, “Liquidity risk and expected stock returns” has been cited over 6,000 times according to Google Scholar.” may be replaced by a sentence such as “His most cited paper, according to Google Scholar, is “Liquidity risk and expected stock returns.”” The reason is that the citation number will soon be outdated, as it is approaching 7,000, and it will likely continue changing.

3. Lubos Pastor’s main research topic currently is “sustainable investing”, which might be included with his other listed interests: “His other work addresses topics such as *sustainable investing,* political uncertainty, stock price bubbles, technological revolutions, the size of the active management industry, and portfolio choice.” Sources: https://www.chicagobooth.edu/faculty/directory/p/lubos-pastor ; also see the recent paper “Sustainable investing in Equilibrium” (Pastor, Stambaugh, and Taylor, Journal of Financial Economics vol. 142 Issue 2, 2021, pp. 550-571, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jfineco.2020.12.011 )

4. The list of prizes Lubos Pastor has received may be updated accordingly: “Pastor's research has been awarded numerous best paper prizes including two Smith Breeden Prizes (2003, 2012), *four* Fama-DFA Prizes (2002, 2006, 2015, *2021*), *the AQR Insight Award (2021), and the Moskowitz Prize (2022)*.” Sources: the 2021 Fama-DFA Prize is listed and sourced on the currently-linked Fama-DFA Prize Wikipedia page; the AQR Insight Award: https://www.aqr.com/About-Us/AQR-Insight-Award/2021/Sustainable-Investing-in-Equilibrium ; the Moskowitz Prize: https://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/social-impact/academics/moskowitz-prize.aspx

Reference Updates

1. The current Reference 2 “Community Fellows” does not contain any information about Professor Pastor and can be removed.

2. The current Reference 5 “Fama-French Portfolios & Factors” is a broken link. Please replace with the updated link: https://wrds-www.wharton.upenn.edu/pages/get-data/pastor-stambaugh-and-other-liquidity-factors/

3. The current Reference 6 “Liquidity Factor of Pastor and Staumbaugh (JPE 2003) Updated Through Dec 2015” is outdated. Please replace with the following link, which is updated through December 2022: https://faculty.chicagobooth.edu/-/media/faculty/lubos-pastor/data/liq_data_1962_2022.txt

4. An additional reference for the liquidity factor (which may be cited with the current references 5 and 6) is suggested: the Fama-Miller Center for Research and Finance’s database which includes a link containing the liquidity factor data. The Fama-Miller Center updates the factor yearly, and will likely become the main source of the data in the future should Lubos Pastor stop maintaining the data personally. Source: https://research.chicagobooth.edu/famamiller/data

5. The current Reference 11 ”Lubos Pastor to be new member of NBS Bank Board” is a broken link. Please replace with the updated link: https://nbs.sk/en/news/lubos-pastor-to-be-new-member-of-nbs-bank-board/

6. The current Reference 13 “New Investable Indexes from The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) selected by Vanguard for U.S. Stock Index Funds” is a broken link. Please replace with the updated link: https://faculty.chicagobooth.edu/-/media/faculty/lubos-pastor/research/crspdocs-38511.pdf

7. The current Reference 14 “Vanguard to Change Target Benchmarks for 22 Index Funds” is a broken link. Please replace with the updated link: https://faculty.chicagobooth.edu/-/media/faculty/lubos-pastor/research/crspdocs-38481.pdf

8. The current Reference 15 “Vanguard: A closer look at CRSP” is a broken link. The following two sources may replace it: https://www.chicagobooth.edu/review/crsp-launches-investable-indexes and https://www.crsp.org/files/weighting-game-rekenthaler.pdf

  Unable to review

  • Your edit request could not be reviewed because the provided references are not formatted correctly.[a] The citation style predominantly used by the Lubos Pastor article is Citation Style 1 (CS1). The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[b] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.) In the extended section below titled Citation style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:
Citation style
Bare URL reference formatting:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

References

1. https://www.booksource.com
2. http://www.journalsource.com
3. http://www.websource.com

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Lubos Pastor article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:

Citation Style 1 formatting:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,<ref>{{cite book|last1=Sjöblad|first1=Tristan|title=The Sun|url=http://www.booksource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=1}}</ref> while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Harinath|first1=Prisha|title=Size of the Moon|journal=Science|issue=78|volume=51|url=http://www.journalsource.com|date=2020|page=46}}</ref> The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Uemura|first1=Shu|title=The Sun's Heat|url=http://www.websource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=2}}</ref>

Which displays as:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

  3. ^ Uemura, Shū. The Sun's Heat. Academic Press, 2020, p. 2.

In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review.

Kindly submit a new edit request below this reply post at your earliest convenience, taking care to ensure that it makes use of CS1. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards,  Spintendo  19:02, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

  1. ^ The fault for this formatting error may have originated with the automated prompts used by the edit request template, which asks for a COI editor to "supply the URL of any references used". While the resulting omission of information would not be the fault of the requesting COI editor, it nevertheless remains their responsibility to supply the references formatted in the style used by the article.
  2. ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.[1]

References

  1. ^ "WP:CITEVAR - Wikipedia:Citing sources". Wikipedia. 20 October 2018. Retrieved 22 October 2018. Guideline: It is normal practice to defer to the style used by the first major contributor or adopted by the consensus of editors already working on the page, unless a change in consensus has been achieved. If the article you are editing is already using a particular citation style, you should follow it.

COI Edit Request Reformatted

[edit]

Hello, thank you for your feedback on my previous edit request. I am submitting this reformatted set of edit requests (ordered per their appearance on the page) on behalf of Lubos Pastor, who asks that the following specific edits be considered to update the article’s content and references.

1. Lubos Pastor’s University title has been updated as of July 1, 2023, from “Charles P. McQuaid Professor of Finance and Robert King Steel Faculty Fellow” to “Charles P. McQuaid Distinguished Service Professor of Finance and Robert King Steel Faculty Fellow". Also, the current Reference 2 “Community Fellows” does not contain any information about Professor Pastor and can be removed. The first sentence may be modified to read as follows:
Lubos Pastor (born 19 March 1974) is a Slovakian-American financial economist, currently the Charles P. McQuaid Distinguished Service Professor of Finance and Robert King Steel Faculty Fellow at Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.[1][2]
2. In the section "Academic Work", the sentence “His most cited paper, “Liquidity risk and expected stock returns” has been cited over 6,000 times according to Google Scholar.” uses a citation number which will soon be outdated, as it is approaching 7,000, and it will likely continue changing. This sentence may be replaced by:
His most cited paper according to Google Scholar is “Liquidity risk and expected stock returns”.[3]
3. The current Reference 5 “Fama-French Portfolios & Factors” is a broken link, and the current Reference 6 “Liquidity Factor of Pastor and Staumbaugh (JPE 2003) Updated Through Dec 2015” is outdated. Furthermore, another reference for the liquidity factor is suggested: the Fama-Miller Center for Research and Finance’s database which includes a link containing the liquidity factor data. The Fama-Miller Center updates the factor yearly, and will likely become the main source of the data in the future should Lubos Pastor stop maintaining the data personally. Thus, the sentence discussing the liquidity factor may be updated as follows:
The paper introduces the concept of a liquidity risk factor and constructs the Pastor-Stambaugh liquidity factors.[4][5][6].
4. Lubos Pastor’s main research topic currently is “sustainable investing”, which might be included with his other listed interests (adding also a citation to a recent paper pertaining to this topic):
His other work addresses topics such as sustainable investing[7], political uncertainty, stock price bubbles, technological revolutions, the size of the active management industry, and portfolio choice.[8][9]
5. The list of prizes Lubos Pastor has received may be updated thus:
Pastor's research has been awarded numerous best paper prizes including two Smith Breeden Prizes (2003, 2012), four Fama-DFA Prizes (2002, 2006, 2015, 2021), the AQR Insight Award (2021)[10], and the Moskowitz Prize (2022)[11].
6. In "Non-Academic Work", the current Reference 12 ”Lubos Pastor to be new member of NBS Bank Board” is a broken link; the reference may be updated accordingly:
In 2015, Pastor was appointed by the Government of the Slovak Republic to the Bank Board of the National Bank of Slovakia.[12]
7. The current References 15 (“New Investable Indexes from The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) selected by Vanguard for U.S. Stock Index Funds”), 16 (“Vanguard to Change Target Benchmarks for 22 Index Funds”) and 17 (“Vanguard: A closer look at CRSP”) are all broken links. The referencing sentence may be updated thus (with the final citation replaced by two links):
From 2008 to 2012, he co-designed the investable CRSP Indexes[13][14][15][16] in cooperation with the Center for Research in Security Prices. 128.135.208.6 (talk) 16:27, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done Most of your suggestions were implemented, and I also added some more reference information for bibliographic purposes. See my edit if you want to see everything that I did, but I think you'll be happy with it. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 18:14, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
