Script[edit]

I was wondering how I would use your script? I can't seem to figure it out, as I'm not that great with using scripts. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 14:10, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Btspurplegalaxy, you can add importScript('User:Paper9oll/FormatterTagger.js'); to your common.js. Afterwards, you should see 3 links (Formatter/Tagger, Tagger, Settings) in the right sidebar if you're editing using 2010 wikitext editor (the 2017 wikitext editor isn't supported like any other userscripts due to technical limitations), Formatter/Tagger performs both formatting and if applicable also tagging of selected unreliable sources (currently covers the entire WP:KO/RS#UR list and selected WP:RSPSS list), Tagger simply does tagging of selected unreliable sources, and Settings allows you to turn on/off selected formatting that the scripts performs. I have the script installed, but I'm struggling to see what you're telling me to do. I need a visual of it somehow. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 14:45, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy I see that you're using the 2017 wikitext editor based on your contributions hence why you're not seeing as described above. If you're desktop, then on your browser's bookmark bar, create a new bookmark, in the URL field add javascript:void function(){javascript:(()=>{if("en.wikipedia.org"==window.location.hostname){const a=new URLSearchParams(window.location.search);a.has("action")%3F"edit"==a.get("action")%26%26a.set("action","submit"):a.set("action","submit"),window.location.search=a.toString()}})()}(); into it, you can name the bookmark as "2010 editor", then save it. After which, you go an article that you want to test it, then click the bookmark, this should redirect you to edit mode, and you should be able to see it now. The bookmark is a shortcut to change the editor from 2017 wikitext editor to 2010 wikitext editor quickly however there is also a manual way i.e. by appending ?action=submit to the end of the URL if you're in read mode. Does it say ProveIt on it? Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 15:11, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy No. Simply just 3 bluelinks named Formatter/Tagger, Tagger, Settings together in the right sidebar named Tools. If you have Tools unpin from the right sidebar, then it should be on the right side of "Read", "Edit", "View History", and the "Star" button. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 15:16, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did you have an email, I can contact you on and show you by screenshots what my screen looks like? So you can see what I see. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 15:27, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Sorry, I don't have any public email. Do you happened to have a similar screen when visiting this article? Paper9oll (🔔📝) 15:38, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It shows up on that article: [1] Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 15:50, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Based on your screen, it is in the left sidebar named "Paper9ollScripts". Does clicking any of the 3 links, does anything? If it doesn't, try changing the URL from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Trithemis_annulata&veaction=submit (based on screenshot) to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trithemis_annulata?action=submit or https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Trithemis_annulata&action=submit What we are trying to do here is to get the 2010 wikitext editor, based on your screenshot, I believe that it is still using the 2017 wikitext editor, the expected editor should be of this design. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:03, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is what I have for one thing: [2] Your script only shows on the article you linked me. Do I need to change anything in my settings? This is what I have pulled up in my settings: [3] Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:12, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Just the URL portion requires changes as stated above, basically instead of ending with &veaction=editsource or &action=edit, it should be ending with &action=submit. Once your URL is changed then clicking on any of the 3 links would trigger an action. No changes is required in the Settings. Earlier, it didn't work due to unsupported editor (2017 wikitext editor in your 1st screenshot) vs the supported editor (2010 wikitext editor in your 2nd screenshot). Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:23, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do I have to type it manually every time? Let's say I go to Girls' Generation article it won't automatically have it, so I have to add it to make it work properly. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:26, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Unfortunately, yes. Otherwise, you can use the bookmark method. This is my personal workflow if I want to use the script, go an article (e.g. Girls' Generation), click the bookmark, wait for the page to reload into edit mode, scroll down till I find "Formatter/Tagger" link, click it, wait for it to complete where the display will automatically change to "Show Changes", review the changes and click "Publish" button. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:33, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I understand now, so basically you use the bookmark method to use the script than you have the option of doing it manually. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:36, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Ya, to me it is more convenience and also because of muscle memory. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:41, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So let's say I installed another script, would the same method be used? Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:43, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Yes, if the script involves touching the editor; for example, the script's functionality involves in changing the article coding (wikitext) like fixing the date formatting. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:47, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that. I've always thought when you install a script, it would atomically appear under the tools. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:49, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy Use to be the case in the past before the rollout of 2017 wikitext editor. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 17:42, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping me out. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 16:46, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy No problem, happy editing! Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

15 June 2024[edit]

Hello! I understand that you must be busy, but I would appreciate getting a response to my feedback after my reverted edit at Zombie (Everglow song). As I said on my talk page, the song key indicated on the page's Composition section is incorrect, and I can provide proofs if needed. However, since there's no available source that indicates the actual key of the song, I think the best option is to remove that sentence from the page. Again, I find your rollback and warning quite arbitrary. Looking forward to your reply! HoneyKpop (talk) 02:02, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
