Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Food and drink

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Food and drink. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Food and drink|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Food and drink. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Aspire (Energy) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This advertorial article on an energy drink does not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for corporations/businesses WP:NCORP, lacking WP:CORPDEPTH the citations are either primary sources, blogs, or press-release type PR. The product itself does not meet WP:GNG. I think it's PROMO. Netherzone (talk) 20:48, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

May have been the Bachelor twice, but unsure whether that's enough to make him notable or keep the article. Also, he neither won $1 million on any other contest nor was a contestant of The Bachelorette. From what I read, he kept his profile low since his Bachelor appearances. Should be redirected to The Bachelor (American TV series) if not deleted. George Ho (talk) 18:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sweet potato haupia pie (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Appears to be a non-notable dish. Sources are all recipes and blogs. The sprouted garden source is about the sweet potato, not the pie. The book is just a single sentence+recipe. The U Hawaii is a recipe. Google search only found recipes (and very few of those). Recipes for Haupia pie -- some referring to it as a Hawaiian classic, which is at least a claim to notability and may be a possible place to move instead of delete -- came up more often, but that was usually pies of just haupia or haupia with chocolate or other flavors. I see this was converted to a redirect to Sweet potato pie once, but reverted. I think it could possibly be redirected to Haupia. Valereee (talk) 12:14, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gyan Dairy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

This dairy organization does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria for corporations, as outlined in WP:NCORP and WP:ORGCRIT. Charlie (talk) 06:37, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Milky Mist Dairy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

This dairy organization does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria for corporations, as outlined in WP:NCORP and WP:ORGCRIT. Also, does not have sufficient coverage WP:SIGCOV in the reliable sources WP:RSP. Current page is WP:PROMO. Charlie (talk) 06:46, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Al Gelato (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This article on a gelato brand no longer in existence, fails WP:NCORP and GNG. A before search finds social media but not much else. Netherzone (talk) 23:36, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Weak delete as it seems like not many web sources were covering it. However, a quick glance on Google Newspapers reveal that newspapers across the country seemed to have been covering it at some point. However, I'm not sure those could fulfill the general notability guideline. Tavantius (talk) 04:23, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tavantius, Are you looking at the Google hits for the company in Beverly Hills, California or the one in Ireland? I too saw in a BEFORE search some hits for the Ireland Al Gelato, however this article is on the company that used to exist in Beverly Hills/Los Angeles, California. Either way because it's a business, it would need CORPDEPTH coverage to meet WP:NCORP not just GNG. Netherzone (talk) 05:25, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pasta all'Ortolana (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Appears to be a non-notable dish. Sources were only to recipes and a single very short discussion. Versions in other language wikis are similarly unsourced or poorly sourced, and a google search in English pulls up nothing but recipes. No claim to notability in text. A 2021 reference book on Italian food[1] doesn't mention the dish. Valereee (talk) 17:34, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NCORP - lacks non-routine in-depth coverage. This article is a "staff report" but is very promotional in nature - I don't think it is an example of independent substantial coverage per WP:CORPDEPTH. Gheus (talk) 11:19, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of very few pages which soft redirect to Wikibooks and the only such page about a food item. Besides this isn't a famous dish either. Kumar Dayal (talk) 13:20, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLP of a cookbook author and filmmaker, not reliably sourced as having a strong claim to passing notability criteria for either occupation. As always, people are not automatically entitled to have Wikipedia articles just because they exist, and have to show evidence of WP:GNG-worthy coverage about them in media independent of themselves -- but the only notability claim on offer here is that her work exists, and the article is referenced to one (deadlinked but recoverable) short blurb that isn't enough to get her over GNG all by itself if it's all she's got for GNG-worthy coverage, and one primary source that isn't support for notability at all.
The article, further, has been tagged for needing more sources since 2011 without ever having better sources added, and a WP:BEFORE search came up dry as all I found in ProQuest was the blurb and a small handful of glancing namechecks of her existence in coverage of events.
Nothing here is "inherently" notable enough to exempt her from having to have more and better referencing than this. Bearcat (talk) 18:01, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Appears like an advertisement/promotion for the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Proposing deletion. Thewikizoomer (talk) 05:59, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This article aligns with various other government schemes in Andhra Pradesh, similar to initiatives of various states like Amma Unavagam, Amma Kudineer, Indira Canteens, and Ahar Yojana, which are all state-owned restaurant services. Additionally, I don't believe the language used is promotional in nature, so I'm unsure why you consider it to be advertisement/promotion for the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The article is well-supported by numerous reliable sources from reputable media sources as mentioned, thus I object this nomination.
The content that I have contributed is in-line and complying with the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Copyrights principles of Wikipedia in my good faith. 456legendtalk 07:17, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keep I agree with @456legend that this just reads like a description of a public welfare program, with a bit of praise for the people who set it up but otherwise factual and neutral. The claim this is promotional is unfounded (unless you want to say The revival aims to continue providing affordable and nutritious meals to all individuals is puffery.)
For sources we have Times of India on the initial launch, and another from ToI on the relaunch, and an article from India today. At least - I stopped there because all three are significant coverage but I'll look further if other editors think these don't satisfy notability. Oblivy (talk) 13:42, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Source analysis of the newly mentioned ones?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, The Herald (Benison) (talk) 19:13, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

These sources are all ads, except for the last one. That is functionally a blog, by a non-expert, whose accreditation is that he has been "interested in supplements... for over 10 years". The wiki page for Great Green Wall is unrelated (as it's about planting trees to prevent desertification). Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 03:57, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Rollinginhisgrave, there are two editors who disagree with you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:44, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
